Occupy Avengers 009 (2017)

-Great cover. And that was the end of that...

-Prologue is a flashback to some time IN BETWEEN panels of last issue, after Tasha had already recruited the blackballed Hawkeye for vague unity reasons as the leader no less, Clint broke up his 'unnamed team'. Then he turns around and recruits the same bunch to help his Underground fight HYDRA. Unsatisfying content on different levels.

-Main story picks up at the cliffhanger. "Team Occupy" outgunned/outnumbered by HYDRA rescued by the supercalvary sent by Hawkeye. The 'reviled' and blackballed Hawkeye somehow managed to speed-dial some supportive superhuman backup out of the blue. Now we see WEHT:
==Tarantula (formerly H4H)
==El Toro (formerly Young Allies)
==Challenger (who??!)

-Elsewhere, the Fireheart Bros., from the first story arc, changed HYDRA disguises to blend in with the most sinister looking uniforms -oddly not green- for patroling food caravans. They score Hawkeye a win.

-Meanwhile at The Mount, clearly at some unkown point before this week's SE#7, Hawkeye is trying to motivate the junior heroes of the Red Room team by scaring them with his inferred kill count. He also shuts Cho up about his Banner kill. Awkward scene.

-Back to the, now, six person "Team Occupy" as they rendezvous at another Underground Reservation Base as they brace for another 'food fight'. Unnamed among the rebels can surely be seen:
==Puma (missed opp to connect to the F.Bros.)
==Texas Twister (not used to his superpowered potential)

-Only Lady Nighthawk and the F.Bros. get any notable characterization along with Clint of all the characters.Granted Red Wolf finally acknowledges an attraction to Tilda in a kissing scene that was alright. The nuances of an unnamed team of heroes only stalling HYDRA at best in a battle for Grass Roots, America did not make for a satisfying ending. If it turns out every single handbook character came out of this unscathed then this already unmemorable series will end with even more botched direction.

-The final scene (of the series?), it's "Team Occupy", the Reserve Force and the F.Bros. teaming up for a face off against HYDRA Food Patrol. Redundant of last issue cliffhanger. And it ends with Lady Nighthawk and Red Wolf making like Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid on the last page like the end of that movie.

Glad it over. I think they have used the "Avengers" on covers that have had no meaning for to long, hopefully this is the last. One time if i was ever to sell my collection of comics, I had always maintained I would keep all related Avenger titles, this is the title I would consider selling.

It started out good with the art, but went down hill. An Avenger book with no team name? I think because it was being canceled, is why it felt rushed. It would have been nice to see Nighthawk in the book for a time.

Hawkeye send those three heroes, but doesn't send Wonderman? I would think by now he is over not using his strength.
