    1) When did Areas* return from the dead? (did someone sew him back together?) And do we know how that happened?

During the latest Contest of Champions.
The Maestro had some ISO-8, which, in great quantities, is a bit cosmic-cube-ish. He used it to bring back Ares, Stick and Night Thrasher. All three of them survived the tournament and got back to 616.

    2) What happened to Capt. Britain's eye? When did that happen? And what happened to his superhuman strength, the power to fly, etc? What are his current power levels these days?

It happened during Times Run Out, the Avengers arc just before Secret Wars. IIRC, it was off panel. The whole Captain Britain corps got killed (not sure if it was said by whom). Brian survived but lost an eye.
I believe his powers are still the same as in his last ongoing (Cap Britain and the MI13, right?)

    3) Were the Adamantine and the Les Heroes de Paris from FF#251 represented in this battle for the city of lights?

No.

    4) And, correct me if I am wrong, the British Punisher came from an alternate reality? That was the same event that returned Night Trasher to the 616, correct?

He is from 616. Some other 616 characters like Iron Man, Gamora and Guillotine were also dragged in the Contest.

    * Disclaimer- I understand that in today's Marvel Universe no one stays dead but I was really hoping he and Sentry would.

I'd rather have definitive death happen to characters who already have a long history, like Tony Stark, Bruce Banner or Steve Rogers. While being a long time villain, Ares is still new in the whole anti-hero business and there are still stories to be told.
Also, the gods tend to come back to life even more often than the X-Men.
