Maybe they feel like they've met their intellectual equals with the aliens? They think they're better than everyone else on earth...maybe meeting aliens has given them people they actually want to get to know.


If they were equals then their name wouldn't be on it. The implication is that Wakanda has taken over and subsumed other planets and cultures, which is not something a country like Wakanda would or could do. They are extreme isolationists. They don't like sharing their technology or culture, which would be required to be an empire, especially an intergalactic one.
