If they were equals then their name wouldn't be on it. The implication is that Wakanda has taken over and subsumed other planets and cultures, which is not something a country like Wakanda would or could do. They are extreme isolationists. They don't like sharing their technology or culture, which would be required to be an empire, especially an intergalactic one.

I guess my point which is hard to articulate...maybe they're isolationists because they despise the rest of humanity...but in a new context (like meeting advanced alien cultures) they've put their best foot forward. How you act around group A may not be how you act around group B.

Things like that don't just happen. Wakandans have tons more in common with their own neighbours, but they treat them like crap. It makes no sense for them to find chums in space.

And no, this isn't some federation. We already know this by what's been given. It's an empire with the Wakandan seal on it. That means the aliens are second class (or worse) and their cultures have been subsumed.

I'm assuming the Wakandas have neither conquered alien worlds or come together out of a sense of fellowship like the Federation...they're trading. Wakanda must have something (vibranium?) even the aliens want to barter for and it's making them rich IMO.

That's sort of my point, especially if vibranium. Wakanda doesn't like to share. This was true even for the next tribe over, much less Europeans. But they're going to trade with aliens? Makes no sense whatsoever.

And Wakanda shouldn't have any more vibranium either. Heck, by the current series, they don't even like each other very much and are on the brink of civil war.
