      But pleeeeeease be Heart!

At first I thought that pic you attached was from the Samson and Goliath cartoon from the 60s. (Which actually makes no sense now that I checked Wikipedia and see that teen-age Samson used magic wrist bands, not a magic ring, when he transformed into his super-powered persona.) But I see the image's file name has the word "heart" in it. What cartoon is it from?

That's Ma-Ti from Captain Planet, the fifth of five heroes represent the classic elements with rings of power: earth, wind, fire, water... and the fifth is heart. And they combine their powers to create Captain Planet.

I don't think Quicksilver's dead. The bad guys think that but I think they're wrong. I don't think people BECOME statues. I think they're REPLACED by statues. Here's my one weird bit of evidence: the next issue blurb has the sentence, "The first Avenger falls!" (Seems to me that if Quicksilver died this issue then whoever dies next issue would be the second Avenger to fall.)

Well, no. Quicksilver hasn't died this issue. He hasn't even been touched yet. The soonest it can happen is next issue. So, which Avenger falls? Right now, it looks like Quicksilver is a prime candidate, but maybe not. How literally do we take that statement? Maybe they just mean someone trips. ;\)

On the last story page, you don't think the sound effect - "THOOM THOOM" - should be interpreted as the statue being struck twice?

Yeah. He's getting hit. We just don't see the outcome. If he does die, I wouldn't count his death as happening this issue.

By the way, I thought of something else exceptionally interesting. Consider this: WHY was Quicksilver chosen as the replacement statuary when the Vision was released? Was it just random?

Earlier in the issue we had this dialogue immediately following Quicksilver's impetuous exit from the underground bunker:

VOODOO: You're not his keeper, Wanda.

    WANDA: More's the pity.

I think Wanda got exactly what she secretly wanted. Quicksilver is safe in whatever Neverland he's been whisked off to, and Wanda is literally his keeper. Pietro will not leave the Neverland before everyone else does unless and until Wanda calls him back. She is his keeper. And right now she doesn't even know he's gone.

I really doubt he's safe. I don't think these are any kind of statues. They seem more like a type of stasis.

"More's the pity" is usually a term of regret about some truth. It could just as easily be a foreshadow of his coming death.

But I hope he's safe.

City of Heroes is BACK!
