I enjoyed Byrne's run way more than Englehart's. I mean sure he reunited Jan with her abuser. Had Vision dismantled, discarded Englehart's orgin of him and turned him into a milk colored Data knockoff. Destroyed Wanda's sanity and had her giving out evil handjobs like they were hotcakes. Erased her and Vision's children. Tigra went feral (never did understand what the in story explanation for that was). USAgent was forced on the team.

Yeah, Byrne was one the best creative minds Marvel ever had. And his run on West Coast Avengers is the only one I own in its entirety. I have the original limited series(which was pretty good), and the annual with Pietro leading the Zodiac, and a half dozen issues at the very end of the run. But, that's all that was worth buying. The writing wasn't the worst part, the truly horrible artwork of Al Milgrom was a big reason. And the green costume he gave Wonderman, ugh. A terrible design. Byrne was a breath of fresh air. It would be interesting to know if he was dumped from the title because sales were poor, or because some executives found him too difficult to work with.

Specifically, editorial nixing the story that I asked about.
