What are the most common motifs in Avengers? I was thinking about the X-Men having the Danger Room training sessions, baseball, Professor X finding a new mutant with Cerebro who is being chased by a mob.

All of those are awesome. Of course baseball is a broader Marvel motif. The Fantastic Four used to play. Back when Reed was allowed to be the sort of man who would play baseball.

For the Avengers I could only think of the big press conference announcing the new team. Maybe fighting off an alien invasion?
Can anyone think of any others that are reoccurring?

The battle cry: "AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!"

Being trained by Captain America.

Getting violent with one another.

Jarvis. (Sub-motif: Tea.)

Chess. (The most iconic players were the Vision and the Black Panther.)

The study and its shelves of books that members would actually read. (The Black Panther favored Keats.)

Scheduled meetings where rules of order would actually be followed.

The rotating chairperson role.

Thanks. Good list. I always liked the scheduled meetings as it differentiated the business-like Avengers with the family-like X-Men. Didn't know that about Panther. I like him even more now.
