what's everyone's opinion on the current Ra's storyline? i was really looking forward to it but it's not really done anything for me yet, was curious what everyone else thought.

The good thing about DC doing this as a crossover is that we're getting through the story arc in 2 months rather than 8. I don't think the story's strong enough to put up with for 8 months.

But then again, this story would probably be stronger if it wasn't a crossover and being written entirely by Morrison or Dini. The quality of writing isn't steady. Transitioning from a Batman chapter to a Robin chapter is like being clubbed in the head considering how much characterization and things seem to go suddenly downhill.

Basically, the story has a lot of big ideas -- quest for Nanda Parbat's immortality, behind the scenes revelations of Ra's al Ghul's family, Robin faced with the secrets to life and death, Batman dying and returning, etc. But it all falls flat because the execution isn't supporting it.

Hopefully the story doesn't end with just Ra's al Ghul being resurrected and returned to his usual role without any of other ideas being executed well. Then this story was ultimately pointless, because all we really needed to read to get that was the title.
