Well "technically" they never revealed Tommy as Hush so it was pretty ambiguous as to his identity. I remember there were quite a few people (myself included) who didn't want to believe Hush was Tommy.

Thats been all cleared up by the new Hush Returns storyline though. In the first issue (even though we don't really see his face) we see Tommy as Hush reflecting on his life as a kid when his parents died. The storyline has just started but we've more of his past and might get more insight as the storyline progresses.
