Just like this guy Bob, I can remember when Batman fans cursed the name of Adam West. I thought it was especially unfair because West was just an actor who had to do what he was told to do. If he ever had a question about it he would have been told: "You'll do it our way if you ever want to work in this town again!" (And they really would have meant it!)

And those fans shouldn't have been complaining anyway, since the Batman Adam West played was similar to the Batman DC comics was publishing at the time.

Yeah, I remember too the times when fans would take Adam West's name in vain as it were and curse or lament the TV series.

The cries of the ignorant.

Also the jokes about how Adam West was "washed up" after Batman ended were both unfair and not that accurate. His career did get a bit derailed, but he still did TV shows and movies, and while they may not have been super lucrative it was still honest work (or as honest as Hollywood gets) and a paycheck.

When he turned to voice acting however, that is what kept him going, from Super Friends to Family Guy.

Like many who were typecast, Adam undoubtedly resented it at first for a few years then just took the ball as it were and ran with it. He realized that the show may be over, but thanks to syndication, typecasting and the fans he was and will always be BATMAN!
