I tried to like Hudlin's BP, I really did. I even got a subscription. But only held out until the wedding issue, and then dropped the book because of the poor editing and everything else mentioned on this board.
But there is a beacon of light coming up, with BP fan Dwayne McDuffie writing him into the cast of the Fantastic Four! I haven't picked up an F4 book in ages (though I'm slowly going thru 500 issues on the dvd-rom), but I'm really looking forward to seeing Black Panther under another writer, just to see if it was Priest's writing I loved so much or if it was Black Panther the character.
Of course, this'll just tide me over until BP and Storm join the Avengers, where they really belong...

I'm going to read the Fantastic 4 for as long as Panther and Storm are in the book, only because I could never really get into the Fantastic 4 unless Panther was involved in some way. I still enjoy the Panther episode "Prey of the Panther" from the Fantastic Four cartoon in the 1990s.
I've also begun collecting back issues of Uncanny X-Men from the 80s, just to find out more about Storm!
