Singleton couldn't pull off "Shaft" (of all films) ...what makes anyone think he can pull off a high_action_drama like "Panther". And I definitely DO NOT want them to use the first four issues of Hudlin's run as the backdrop. Let Hudlin pull the strings as Executive Producer for Marvel or something, but don't let him touch the script or the directorial duties.

If there was going to be a director to do this film, it would have to be one of these two men:

1) My first choice would be F. Gary Gray (The Italian job, The Negotiator, Set It Off). He has much experience with action and drama and could probably project the African/African-American perspective more successfully than my second choice...who is...

2) Sam Raimi - his Spider-man films (to me) are the most successful of the super-hero films. They have been directed better and have portrayed the emotional elements of dealing with the trials of being a super hero wayyy better than any of the other more recent super films. He has to have serious consideration if this film is to be successful.

If you put a black face on it, they think it's black thing; but yet we have all these movies that have come up and whenever they any black people in it, they make all this money. That's the thing that's holding 'Luke Cage' up. They think it's a small superhero movie. It's not going to be a small stupid movie like 'Meteor Man'. I'm trying to make 'Luke Cage'.

My #1 choice would be Christopher Nolan, who directed both my favorite movie of all time (Memento) and my favorite comic book movie of all time (Batman Begins), among others (Following, Insomnia, The Prestige). He always makes intelligent, thoughtful films, and I love his visual style.

A John Woo Black Panther movie could also be pretty interesting, if a bit more visceral and over the top.
