I'd say his role as the Operative gave him instant chops to play T'Challa. Panther ought to be able to walk softly and carry a big stick. I'm hard pressed to think of any other actors who have pulled that off. Even Matt Damon, awesome on the Bourne movies, doesn't come close.

My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that he's just a little too big. I'd prefer T'Challa were less bulky, more sleek and aerodynamic (for complete lack of a better term).
