True. To a point. The "mechanical jungle" and any number of "secret" laboratories in Wakanda don't really draw a parallel - IMHO - to The Phantom's Skull Cave. Using that logic, you could say Tony Stark's "secret" Iron Man laboratory (complete with various suits in chambers) would qualify. Or even the X-Men's underground complex beneath Xavier's mansion. But as for a good example of a Marvel Universe-style Skull Cave? Hmmm. I'm drawing a blank... As for DC? You could find commonality with the Batcave. But really the only thing in common is ... well, the cave itself. The Skull Cave is a mountain hideout in the middle of the Bengallan jungle. (The rock formations at the mouth of the cave form a skull.) It's been used by generations of Phantoms. And is fairly "low-tech." The Phantom houses treasure in the cave and uses it as a home-base of sorts. But it's not a laboratory or training center. And it's not one big trap for invaders (i.e., T'Challa's "mechanical jungle"). I'm really not trying to be a dick here. It's just that I've gone over a lot of this already with Edda who seems to want to find a direct parallel between the white (low-tech) outsider/protector Phantom and the native (high-tech) king/chieftain Black Panther. (Simply because they both call a ficitonal African nation "home?") Which, as a fan of both characters, stuns me a bit... Or was there a "form" for a hyperlink on the old setup?) | |||||||
