His father thought he was a loser and 'gave' him to SHIELD and Nick Fury. Cap learned about this and got T'Challa to open up and felt bad for him. BP was supposed to go to the Savage Land showdown against Magneto and Ultron in Ultimates III but he wanted to go home and see his family (doesn't seem to be aware his father disgusts him). Cap feels bad and takes his place at the last second and secretly sends him home to Wakanda...the end.

T'Challa actually lost his vocal cords during a battle with a ceremonial panther. His brother was to the be the one to battle the panther, but T'Challa thinking he deserved the right or some such snuck in and was mauled almost to death. The Wakandan scientists couldn't help him so his father sent him to SHIELD and then eventually Weapon X. When his father tried to contact Weapon X he was told his son had died, but as we see in Ultimate Origins he was actually discovered and rescued by Fury. His father and family don't know he's alive, Fury is hiding those facts from him, so Cap devised a way for him to go visit his home.
His father isn't disgusted by him, his brother actually always thought he was his father's favorite.
