It was the marvelous art and bright spot moments that kept me but the preview pages that started the ish with some of the turnaway, distasteful elements, in the story, to take away from beautifully drawn Storm and her spotlight. Just: STORM should have been the mini title too instead of Worlds Apart(?).

Some page by page reactions...

http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt32/thundercat700/X-Men_-_WA_004_000dcp.jpg
-servicable poser cover... though some dental work is needed

http://www.comicbookresources.com/prev_img.php?pid=1936&pg=1
-bah

http://www.comicbookresources.com/prev_img.php?pid=1936&pg=2
http://www.comicbookresources.com/prev_img.php?pid=1936&pg=3
-impressive power display! BUT very surprised thhey set this precident. So, now what global emergency will not be great enough for her to pull this IM stratosphere jump-like or Guardian gravitycancel port-like feat? And since when does she not have protection herself from her weather weilding?

http://www.comicbookresources.com/prev_img.php?pid=1936&pg=4
-possibly artistic license or visual after effect would be noprize explanation but crackling energy from his visor and bending ruby beam seems very wrong. Also, Emma down just sets the stage for another whole issue of psi showings to be taken with a grain of salt

http://www.comicbookresources.com/prev_img.php?pid=1936&pg=5
-noted attempt to give readers a shared universe feel with hints of SI and Archangel subplots

http://www.comicbookresources.com/prev_img.php?pid=1936&pg=6
-the Karma/Farouk history hints seem more forced with her (out of uniform) sudden inclusion
-though a fan of Pixie's potential as a character, she has a terrible showing here

http://www.comicbookresources.com/prev_img.php?pid=1936&pg=7
-this exciting calvary splash comes at the expense of a tad convenient aspect to it and cliche/shoddy X-Base structural defenses

http://i41.tinypic.com/ejvkvk.jpg
-Nezhno gets good spotlight this ish

2 pages Storm vs possessed X-men:
-these battles typically go either way but just shows more evidence that Storm and Emma are the power behind the team ATM. And the shot of the Golden Gate Bridge shows how forgiving the Mayor continues to be.

1 page face off:
-hard to believe, even subconsciously, that Scott would hold a grudge from an Uncanny 201[IIRC] training session

http://i40.tinypic.com/6xw4kg.jpg
-exciting images but hopefully someone will be able to noprize the MU physics behind the powers stopping each other

2 pages of holey crap:
-Ororo is bad-ass! Look how she deals with family. She crippled her husband and does this shocker vs an X-man. Those acts better be precident setting.

2 pages of Storm vs Shadow King:
-good defiant dialogue

1 page very COOOOOL calvary cameo!

2 pages of CPR (and her keeping the rain for simple background going)

http://i41.tinypic.com/2zq6235.jpg
-well iffff she is the new BP its not 'cuz of reprecussions from this series

1 page of necessary Wolverine appearance

1 page sweet enough ending reminiscent of a Classic Xmen ending, IIRC, where Kitty reaffirms who she is with a list but we already know Storm knows who she is (by now) so it didnt feel as stimulating, for a TPB finish, as this months PWZ ending did

[EDIT: link to link of more very SPOILER images http://www.comicboards.com/app/show.php?msg=comicbattles-2009020114320719 ]

I picked this up against better judgment but have been aching for some Panther since I have boycotted all of Hudlin's work.

I knew from the first issue that I would be disappointed, but road it out.

Great covers, but overall, I thought it was a very disappointing read.
