I was SOOOO excited to jump back on a new Black Panther title after refusing to support the title during Hudlin's run! Well, the excitement has slowly been waning and now I am certainly at the crossroads of canceling the book from my pull list.
I feel the same tinge of guilt I had when I dropped BP at issue #5 of Hudlin's run, but a blind-loyalty to the character's success has started taking more of a back seat as comic prices seem to inflate.
This new BP series (or old DD series for that matter) had me intrigued from the beginning, but eventually has left me feeling bored and uninspired with the character's direction.
That, combined with Francavilla's art style (which I truly dislike), the exceedingly drawn-out pace of the lackluster opening story arc and the re-hashing of the "Wakandan-King takes it to the streets"-plot is just enough to make me wonder why I am wasting my money.
I really want to see a BP book succeed. I truly do.
I miss the Priest run and the older 70's and 80's takes on the character.
Call me and old-schooler I guess, but this latest incarnation is still not doing it for me.
I'm pretty sure it's time to call it quits- I don't think I will even be able to stomach "American Panther."
I hope others are enjoying the title and I wish it a long run.
I will definitely be lurking.
Just my 2 cents.
