    I'm for not using the name Man-Ape just to be safe.

    Best to side step the issue instead of letting it become an issue.

I had a white co-worker who had a lot of African art (including tribal masks that admittedly looked kind of monkey-ish) that she had gotten during her honeymoon that she hung in her office. She genuinely liked the art and the masks but a black employee complained and said she thought the stuff was racist. Didn't matter that the people who made the art were black.

All it takes is for one person to get their feelings hurt. Best to avoid the issue all together.

You can't side-step everything, especially the truth.
