Quote:My only real complaint was W'Kabi being a traitor. Granted he's just never been an important character but of all the minor Wakandans I always liked him because he was T'Challa's main male friend outside of the hero business.
He switched sides too quickly & too easily : a total stranger comes to the border of Wakanda with the corpse of Klaue, then challenged the current king for the throne, then apparently killed the king, then prepared Wakanda to attack the whole world and W'Kabi is over-enthusiastic about the whole plan.
Later in the movie, he is ready to fight even his girlfriend for this new king.
He seems to trust without question the American newcomer, without even questioning how & why he killed Klaue and why he came to Wakanda. Yet, W'Kabi is supposed to be the leader of the Wakandan Homeland Security.
Still, in the MCU, we don't know enough his personal background to guess what his true feelings are about the current politics of Wakanda or about T'Challa or even if he has a longtime relationship with Okoye and a deep commitment to her.
Quote:And I was shocked Nakia didn't turn traitor. Her being the main love interest surprised me.
Instead of becoming the maniacal Malice of the comics, I think that they plan to make her the equivalent of Catwoman for Black Panther.
Clearly, she doesn't want to become part of the establishment that is the Wakandan government (T'Challa has to give her an humanitarian mission to convince her to stay with him) and, obviously, she doesn't want to be the queen.
