How to put this...to me MCU Ross seems like the embodiment of what black people don't like about white people in the government.
In the comics you couldn't help but to like Ross. He was an idiot and he was ineffectual. In the movies he's the smug white government agent.
I've read online a lot of black fans didn't like the Ross character in the movie. Part of that might just be because he's not black. But another part of me thinks if he was portrayed like he was in the comics (as the comic relief) he would have been more likeable.
And would that be a good thing? To pander to making whitey look the fool? Ross was effective...but they essentially save his life and make him look like a little fish in a big pond later. Ross isn't even high ranking official...hes an agent. If some black fans don't like him because he was useless...how's that better than white fans getting upset at seeing strong black people as seen in wakanda. Both should be ignored imo.
By the way I liked Ross from the comics too.
