Captain America - Steve Rogers 013

    My blurbs:
    • No Secret Empire banner yet on cover. Huh.

    Quote:
    • More crazy flashback pages to endure. Six of 'em. Bah.

    Quote:
    • "Nuff Said" panels with for readers to play Name-The-Supervillain. Pages and pages of this C-Listers gimmick. Six pages also. Bore.

    Quote:
    • SHIELD's failing and illogic with the Pleasant Hill trackers aside, it was totally unclear why the Thunderbolts did not get the implants at the same time. Actually the best part -besides the fun cover- was the story index solicit clearly placing this with their title and (finally) the title of Uncanny Avengers vs Xavier-minded Red Skull.

    • Meaningless Sin appearance just for someone for RS to showoff too.

    Quote:
    • Zemo's meet and greet with Bob. Fluff conversation for 4 pages, 6 if you count the gratuitous double splash. It seemed totally likely that Bob is, SOMEHOW, The Sentry after Zemo let's readers in on the mystery identity. Probably the "Dark Sentry" that fought Thor in the previous Remender run in Uncanny Avengers, SOMEHOW returned and SOMEHOW connected to Pleasant Hill. Hated that reimagined character. Also, hating the Zemo new blues too - bring back his magenta!

No one wants to get murdered by the man in the magenta leather mask and frilly boots.

I think I'm more bothered by the baggy mask instead of the color. I was always more a fan of Helmut's old skin tight mask than Heinrich's baggy mask.

Kobik's flashbacks continue on and on

    Quote:
Helmut is weirdly cute and polite to Bob in this.

You don't assemble the best darn Masters of Evil team in history without knowing how to network.

    Quote:
Red Skull has a very varied wardrobe it seems.

So that's what Hitler taught Red Skull when he was his mentor. Fashion tips.

    Quote:
Damn commies and their horrible bookkeeping!

    Quote:
    Sigh for Sokovia.

Or as I call it Madeupistan

    Quote:
So, it looks like Zemo really does believe Steve. There's brotherly love there.

So did Kobik remake the timeline and drastically alter Helmut's backstory? Because this brotherly relationship makes zero sense going by Zemo's appearances prior to this series. I mean not just in the fact they're friendly with each other...but Helmut's like Bucky's age or way younger in WW2.

    Quote:
Looks like Cross Yellowjacket is here to stay. Also, interesting that Kraven is the only Spider-Man villain here, must be because Slott has no interest in using him.

    Quote:
Why does Wizard get to keep his helmet on?

Good thing Wizard doesn't hold a grudge for the way Helmut treated him in Avengers/Thunderbolts.

    Quote:
Well that's silly. Getting stuck in the rocket. Why not just take off your glove?

    Quote:
I'm sure that the Circus of Crime will be REALLY useful!

I don't think Helmut wants people to know he really loves circuses. The other villains will make fun of him.

    Quote:
Spencer just excels at writing c-list villains.

I doubt Mordo will show, it would contradict what Jason Aaron has been doing with him.

    Quote:
Graviton in a Japanese zen garden? He has the same design he had in Avengers World, also by Spencer.

Isn't that the same costume he had when he fought the Thunderbolts three times?

I wonder if Frank and Helmut discussed old times. Like both of them being obsessed over Moonstone. Or that time Zemo and Techno (Fixer) used a Hulk robot to free Frank from the Ptah dimension so he could kill the Thunderbolts. Or that time their mutual cockblocker Hawkeye lead the Thunderbolts into Frank imploding into another dimension again. Or that other time Graviton murdered almost everyone on that Redeemers team Helmut was leading until he reunited the Thunderbolts and they all got sucked into a vortex. Good times. Lots of vortexes (vortices?) and mutual enemies to talk about.

    Quote:
Oh $#!&, is Bob the Sentry?

The furry is... Ferocia. Sumo might be... Pink Pearl?

    Quote:
It's implied that he's a super-villain though, and despite all the horrible stuff he's done, Sentry is still a hero. Plus it'd be incredibly stupid of Hill to have the Sentry's "Pleasant Hill" persona also be named Bob.

Could he somehow be the Void? Not that I know enough about Sentry or the Void to articulate that idea.

    Quote:
"We all fill -The Void- in our lives with people who care about us."

    Quote:
I'm not sure it's the Sentry. Would Zemo and Steve be able to control him? Would they be able to convince him to work for them? He's too much of a loose cannon.

This totally seems like a move Zemo would make though. Blackout, comatose Moonstone...he likes to have an ace in his back pocket. Heck you would think Graviton by himself would be the big gun.

    Quote:
Holy decompression! This issue felt quite lame. Shame on you, Spencer.

    Quote:
Wait a minute, why didn't SHIELD track the villains down themselves if they knew about the tracking chips? Spencer has no fucking clue how SHIELD works.

    Quote:
Can't have too much cannon fodder.
