Captain America - Sam Wilson 022 (2017)

This was a strong Super Hero - Sam Wilson #22 story. As a Secret Empire tie-in it inevitably had all the creative taints that has come from the discouraging Event so far. It covers the time from when he quit being Cap in this title, through his sabbatical, then heroes up and becomes leader of his MUnderground Railroad parallel, up to his meeting Clint, Bobbi, and a hologram T.A.I. (that needs a hoody for some reason) in Secret Empire #3. It would've been an even better story if it shared a panel similar to the one on the cover (that probably happened between panels) where we see him in his cool rebel regalia.

The art was okay. In fact, it was source of the banner submission attached for consideration. (It's been awhile. Also an AMB header FYI.). The one splash page flashback (to just after the FCBD 2017 ish) actually[read:finally] notes, outside that freebie, that Steve actually poses/lifts Mjolnir but frustratingly give no more details on that shocker ("'natch." *sigh*).

Flinging the DOUBLE HANDLED garbage can was a consciously cliché corny but it still felt good. As did the believable reunion with Misty and Dennis. It would've been better if any of the random survivors Sam relocates from that 9-panel page was Handbook recognizable to have those pleas evoke a fraction of the substantial emotion that the subsequent cameo with Cassie Lang did. (Why, SUPERHEROINE: Stinger is running is clearly a weak/easy plot device.)

Now, Marvel just has to change the name of series to Captain America Comics: Starring Sam Wilson or somesuch - or Heaven forbid and Sales encourage relaunch a a new book The Falcon, ASAP.

D-Man, I mean. He became Scourge and got killed. Was it explained how he came back?
