I used to hate Batman for that. So overwritten and always right, always so nauseuatingly infallible. Thankfully they pulled back on it to an extent and i can actually admire him once more!

I guess the outright no-contest winner of this sort of Question (For me) would have to be dear old Wolverine, a character once enigmatic and cool as hell but then systematically pimped up to such a hideous degree that makes WWHulk look like a naughty schoolboy.
Every time I think he can't get any worse along comes another issue where he utterly owns Captain America/The Avengers/Namor/Apocalypse/Batman.... his overexposure became so great it was even joked about in the books!! \:\-\(

"LOL ...LMAO...*wink*... Guffaw... *sigh*..." (etc etc...)

...Oh, Did i say lol BTW? *rhe*

While your analysis of Wolverine is spot-on the VAST majority of the time, the beating he took in WWH was thorough enough to pull him back from the edge of TOTAL over-respect.

Other than that redeeming beating, however, he would definitely take the cake for too much respect in Marvel. Too little respect would probably be Ms. Marvel if you asked me. She's probably much closer to top-tier than people give her credit, and then she got one-shotted in WWH for no good reason...

For DC, I'd say Superman. While I agree with the poster that said he's used as a punching bag measuring stick, all too often he still outdistances those trying to measure up. Too little respect in DC would be Firestorm. He could literally walk through over 75% of DC's characters without breaking a sweat, but he's tragically disrespected.
