I offer no interpretation or argument; just providing the scans of the issue featuring Superman and the tesseracts.

"It's not, 'Oh, they killed Sue Dibney and I always loved that character,' it's 'Oh, they broke a story engine that could have told a thousand stories in order to publish a single 'important' one.'" -- John Seavey

I assume RC called you in? ;\-\)

This was after the Obsidian age! No wonder I had trouble remembering it, this Kelly/Mankhe era made me lose the will to live where JLA was concerned *rhe*

Despite it all though I think this supports what i was pointing to, while this effect was not as lethal it was nontheless identical in the physics employed to nail Captain Marvel.
If Superman has to wait for the effects to pass naturally while Marvels power snaps him back from the brink automatically then that's a significant edge he has right there....

"LOL ...LMAO...*wink*... Guffaw... *sigh*..." (etc etc...)

...Oh, Did i say lol BTW? *rhe*
