His brothers Prometheus and Epimetheus weighed the odds and betrayed the other Titans by forming an alliance with the Olympians. When the Titans were defeated, many of them (including Menoetius) were confined to Tartarus, but Zeus condemned Atlas to stand at the western edge of Gaia, the Earth and hold up Ouranos, the Sky on his shoulders, to prevent the two from resuming their primordial embrace"

And that would change what exactly? The Earth was only where he needed to step in.

Ancient texts both allure it as "Heavens" as well as "sky". Art representations show Atlas holding a celestial sphere with stars and constellations.
Its a cosmic feat and was always meant to be.

> And in the Marvel Universe Gaea isn't actually THE EARTH.

She is the heart of the planet, as aknowleged in "Defenders". Moreso, the terms "Gaea" and "Earth" are as much as interchangable as "Heavens" and "Sky". They basically refer to the same thing.
Wheter Atlas hefted a realm of stars and planets on his back, or the actual weight of a cosmic being, its still remains one thing: A classic over the top feat display of strenght and stamina.
