Marvel stated Thunderstrike was invincible, but he got beat at least once nearly every issue he was in. Hulk claims to be the strongest one there is, but his strength feats have been matched by Thor and Hercules and other beings have been shown/stated to be far stronger.

It is called hyperbole.
