Why is it so hard for people to accept Mantis was defeated by Moondragon in pure skill?

Both were trained by the Priests of Pama and both excelled in their martial arts training.

Moondragon is THAT good. And, in fairness, Moondragons training always seemed more impressive as her mental powers (which were in direct relation to her POP training) are far more potent than Mantis.

The Celestial Madonna vs. The Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe. Who takes this one?

Gamora supposedly has the edge in strength and speed, has a healing factor and knows a whole lot about assassination tactics. Mantis on the other hand is better skillwise imo. Although she was defeated by Moondragon in a hth match before.. which I'm still saying was due to subconscious mind gem use.

To be honest I think more of Mantis let her win. Mantis obviously knew she was very upset thet she was'nt choosen above mantis as Celestial Madonna and felt that letting her win would let go of that anger she had so she could move on. It strikes me as something mantis would do and would'nt really care about losing in this way...

I can't remember whether or not that was insinuated in the issue.. but it sounds good to me. Thing is Moony could've read her mind. Could've but maybe didn't. I could see Mantis confronting Moondragon(heard she was coming back) in GOTG, after a heated discussion, saying something like "if you had read this one's mind, you'd know this one did let you win". That'll do it for me.
