Subj: I agree Thor matches Hulk well, it's just the idea of two peers fightings and one of them has a hammer!

Thor is hitting the Hulk with a super-weapon. Isn't it only fair that the Hulk get to strike Thor with a super-weapon as well?

Fair doesnt really come into such things. I guess if it was fair everyone would have exactly the same powers (and if you were a purist the same intelligence and even personality). At any rate i think its fair to say that Mjolnir is, if not a part of Thor, then very close to it and its certainly part of his standard arsenal.

Or does the Hulk simply not need a weapon as a crutch?

Im not gonna take anything away from Thor for using the weapon, i dont think its a "crutch". I basically see their fights as Hulk and his increasing strength (and in modern times his healing factor) vs Thor and his hammer derived powers. Without those "extras" they are pretty similar power wise. So yes i think the two match up fine as it is.

Thor is a great character, but my favorite Thor/Hulk battle was when Thor didn't use his hammer, in Journey Into Mystery.

I guess what I'm getting at is if the Hulk used the axe of Terrax, fans would accuse him of cheating...especially if he won with the weapon.

No one thinks twice about Thor using a hammer, though.
