Merged Hulk was also featured in an even armwrestling contest with the Thing...was he holding back, I would hope so.

That was a story clearly played for laughs, not really meant to be taken as a serious power-level comparison.

When the merged Hulk fought Thing in a serious story he absolutely owned him and Ben commented that Hulk was even further out of his league than he had been previously.

Yes, he handled some villains more easily than Hulk, but seemed to have more trouble with Thor, at least in the Hela instance.

True, but that was explicitly due to the savage Banner thing. When that wasn't in play the merged Hulk stalemated a blood-lusted Thor going full tilt to kill Hulk using Mjolnir etc for hours, and seemed a fair bit stronger than Red Norvell.

The merged Hulk can't compete with the showings that the modern era Hulks have accrued, but in terms of character vs character showings he compares pretty damn well with the "classic" era savage Hulk. That said, he does lack the super high-end dynamic strength showings of his predecessor (e.g. jumping to a level where he could overpower original strength Abomination, the Banger McCrusher showing etc).
