I haven't been defensive. I'm just trying to express how I think people are coming at this differently.
Perhaps isn't "Not", but it's not "Absolutely" either. I happen to think Silver Surfer is more powerful than Superman. If Reed Richards said "Perhaps Surfer is more powerful than Superman" I wouldn't find that compelling enough to use as evidence to support my opinion. I wouldn't put it in consideration. It just doesn't mean enough to me. That's just where we differ.
Regarding Superman vs. Thor:
After the fight with Thor, Superman was hit by by 2 repulsor beams from Iron Man which hurt him badly. Then 1 punch by Wonderman puts him down. He was down (or at the very least literally on his way down). Then the other characters you mention piled on. Maybe we define "level above" differently. But Thanos, who really is a level above, would have been able to take those shots and kept going. He would have probably beaten the combined efforts of the heroes. Superman was clearly tired, which shows he and Thor are relative peers. Or is it your position that a relatively fresh Superman would be so hurt by Iron Man's repulsors and a punch from Wonderman that he'd be incapable of fighting back? Again, we may just differ here on symantics, or what was shown on the page itself. But honestly that's how interpreted the comic.
