Under Aaron's writing Thor's staple characters are not portrayed in a favorable light. You would think that an armor that was built to fight Celestials would hold up much better. Of course the Celestials have been brought down significantly from their initial introduction to the point where Sue Storm and her son can take one out. My my how the mighty have fallen. Now I see where Old King Thor gets to have the Destroyer armor arm.
Mangog manhandles the Destroyer and bites the arm clean off the armour, defeating it. Most of the battle is off-panel but it's clear Mangog is way above it.
This is just a lazy attempt to explain a Mangog win. I've seen a normal human inhabit the Destroyer and take on the entire Dark Gods pantheon yet a weaken goddess in the armor get thrashed. Even if Freya was sick and weak the durability of the armor is not compromised just the use of the armor's offensive capabilities due to lack of experience.
Quote:Worth noting that Mangog strongly suggests the soul animating the armour (Freya) is weak so it's possible that the armour was weaker than usual.
This is so inconsistent and a few things bother me.
1.) War Thor knocks out Mangog's tooth with Ultimate Thor's Mjolnir. I thought Mangog's durability was off the charts. hell Mangog even bit off the Destroyer's left arm but he loses a tooth?
Quote:Also in the previous issue it is stated that this Mangog is more powerful than he has ever been previously (and this is backed up by him shrugging off the same attack that defeated him under Jurgens and then physically tearing apart a Mjolnir duplicate).
2.) Why isn't Volstag dead? The beating he took from Mangog should have killed him.
3.) I'm not impressed with him crushing Ultimate Mjolnir since I don't see it as being equal to 6161 Mjolnir. I suspect that Aaron will have him destroy 616 Mjolnir.
Well, maybe his teeth are super-durable while his gums not so much, hence the flying tooth.
