Subj: for instance, I think you have to count the armwrestling match between Thor and Hercules that was narrated

Reply Subj: silliness occurs in canon too though...

the whole John Byrne She Hulk series was kind of silly....a lot of 70's stuff too...all canon.

But it WAS retconned. Thanos IIRC noted that the clone Thor beat with the Designate rivalled him in terms of power (at least establishing that that Thanos was at least a comparable threat), but it did raise enough doubt for most of the clones for most of his losses to that point that Thanos gets the benefit of the doubt IMO.

by the acting editors and where they knocked a planetoid out of orbit and ended up destroying the planetoid. It occurred in book, was intended to show them as REALLY strong, and essentially evenly matched in terms of strength.

That it has a silly tone is irrelevant IMO, because again, do you then invalidate EVERY comic that has a silly tone, or breaks the 4th wall, or whatever...there was an in comic FF that did so, and in the main story...is that story now invalidated?

Now, can we treat Squirrel girl and Ka Zar as outliers...probably because there's no plausibility based on logic or ongoing history, but that is a different discussion.
