    the whole John Byrne She Hulk series was kind of silly....a lot of 70's stuff too...all canon.

    But it WAS retconned. Thanos IIRC noted that the clone Thor beat with the Designate rivalled him in terms of power (at least establishing that that Thanos was at least a comparable threat), but it did raise enough doubt for most of the clones for most of his losses to that point that Thanos gets the benefit of the doubt IMO.

I think you have to make a distinction between comics that are normally played straight and then have a comedy issue and series played almost strictly for comedy like The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, which again, I have not stated is non-canon, simply that I think Marvel leaves a lot of leeway to interpreting its canon status. In the issue in which Squirrel Girl deters Galactus, you'll find that the Squirrel Girl-version of this casual, somewhat jokey Galactus acts nothing like normal Galactus. I'm fine with someone else accepting that as canon if they want, but I personally won't cite it to demonstrate Galactus' personality to someone.
