What about the Orion vs. Darkseid fight under Simonson indicates DS is well above him? Yes, DS fakes his own death, but that death was plausible, and Orion worked DS over.
It was a staged fight. Darkseid could've killed him anytime he wanted.

Nonsense. Darkseid and Orion have fought many times at length. If Darkseid beats Orion quickly, that is the outlier.

At times, DS has seemed a bit above the top tiers, but again and again, they stand up to him effectively.
Name one top tier that did it other than Superman. He has crushed Wonder Woman, backhanded Captain Atom away, crushed GLs like nothing, defeated Orion with a wave of his hands, made Etrigan his slave, casually created Takion's equal out of air, curbstomped Lobo, oneshotted Mon-El in a coma, oneshotted J'onn etc.

Again, lots of misleading, out of context, or just plain wrong examples here. For example, if Darkseid curbstomps GLs like nothing, he shouldn't need to wear a yellow suit to protect himself and even then he needs saving from the Guardians. So you asked for another top tier who stood up to Darkseid effectively, we have Green Lantern Raker Qarrigat:

Not even Odin has such an impressive record against top tiers.

Since you're on record as stating you believe Odin is a weakling whom Thor beats in a fight, I'm not sure what your point is here.
