Subj: Yeah, if you're talking about dismissing the Avatar retcon

For the record, I hate it too.

I don't think it matters either way, because when we talk about Darkseid, we talk about the version that has interacted with the main universe.

If you're talking about the other, part of the specific retcons we're discussing, I think Marvel heavily beat us over the head with the Thanos clone thing, while it just kind of showed up in a random comic in DC.

The Thanos clone thing had the whole arc with Thanos dealing with other clones, and it was pretty annoyingly stupid...and IMO Thanos before powered up by Death would have been much more comparable to DS

We also don't really know, aside from the pics, exactly what instances were Darkseid and which ones were Desaad...and then after that retcon, we still see DS having similar levels of showings until the new 52.

Many times retcons or re retcons get forgotten....

In any case, were I to write DS, I'd write him as clearly above Superman, Orion, etc.  That said, I wouldn't make them as big of an underdog against him as Spider Man vs. Firelord....they'd be able to win with a little luck, pre planning, maximal effort, DS overconfidence, etc.  I'd probably write Thanos in a similar way....but I am not a comic writer (though I think I could do a better job in a shared universe than many that have the job, even though I know I'd need to work a lot on writing decent dialog...)
