The book doesn't really do that. Thor is forced to fight because of an obedience disk, which he is actively struggling against. Thor is asking Cho to unleash his full might and kill him to prevent him from killing Cho. At one point, Thor has a moment to deliver the (possibly) killing blow, but is able to keep from doing so long enough for Cho to clock Thor, who is only stunned, not unconscious. After which, Cho destroys Thor's obedience disk. Basically, the fight has numerous qualifications.

Yeah that writer must not have read the book he was reviewing. It was trolling at best.
