well it protects you from the outside as well as from a divorce. If someone is going to sue you or your wife for something, then anything that is in the other person's name cant be touched. In fact if you think one of you is going to be sued you should try to put at least something aside in the other persons name. Of course this doesnt work if you are both being sued together, like in a car accident.

That's probably why Hulk Hogan and his wife are getting a divorce...to hide his assests from the family of that kid their son crippled.
