Why do you consider that law ridiculous?

Such laws exist in my country, too - and I consider that a good thing. As a non-smoker, I am extremely annoyed when, for example, I'm standing at the bus stop and some person next to me smokes - and puffs her toxins straight into the air I breathe...

You want to poison yourself with cigarettes? Your choice - but please, respect the other people's choice *not* to breathe in the smoke...

Same here! They banned smoking in pubs and bars and other public buildings this year in the UK, and it is fantastic! Finally I can come home from a night out without feeling sick from other people's disgusting smoke.

Funnily enough, the British Parliament building itself was not covered by the law, and there was a lot of protest from MPs about extending the ban but they were convinced it would be hypocritical to retain smoking rights for themselves, so now they too cannot smoke inside Westminister \:\)
