Reply Subj: Are the High-Defination Wars (Blu Ray vs HD-DVD) coming to an end?

In case anyone missed it Warner announced it was going strictly to Blu Ray a few days ago. It was the last major studio to make a decision and it get Blu Ray a big boost.

The rest is still unconfirmed rumors but it sounds like a lot of the other major studios left with HD-DVD may want to switch.

In the long run I think Blu Ray probably would be the way to go but I think its going to take awhile for them to take off. They have more memory capacity than the HD-DVD's but I think they're a little more expensive to produce. Eventually I'm sure like all electronics they'll start getting cheaper to produce and become more affordable. I can wait. I'm in no hurry to buy one. My standard DVD player works for me. \:\)

Format wars suck. Either it's a battle neither side can win (see Super Audio CD vs DVD-Audio) or it sours the consumers that chose the other ("Oh no, beta!"). And if it is over, I'm kind of surprised, since I thought it would last longer.
