> I was curious about how things went with the tyrant. Sorry to hear they went... erm... badly.

Looking back at all of this, I see now that there was no chance of things ending any better... I went against the chairman of the NGO (an extremely clever manipulator and a powerful personality), who was secretely supported by our vice-chairman, a guy with completely no spine. One of our volunteer workers called those guys "Hitler and Goebbels". With two people like that having complete power over the organisation, I had no chance of winning this.

The whole situation was completely sick. I stood up to the chairman just once, when I was completely fed up with his bullying tactics. Was he a reasonable man, he would diffuse the conflict easily - or at least shuffled it under the carpet. But no, he insisted that I apologize to him or make things official... So, I had no choice but to complain officially. Two other colleagues of mine supported me and filed complaints of their own against the chairman. It looked liked we had a chance of winning this, but...

... of course, the persons that we complained to were our management board... which consisted of the chairman (the accused man), the vice-chairman and a board's secretary. The board's secretary behaved fairly, but the both chairmen did all sorts of nasty things. It all ended with our complaints being rejected as groundless. Then, things went quiet for some weeks, as the tyrant went abroad... He returned near the end of September - and I was informed that I was being fired. On the grounds that the management cannot communicate with me properly...

One good thing that came out of this was that I caused the chairman to finally show his true colors to everyone in our organisation. As I said, the guy is a bully. Since the beginning of this year, our NGO has lost six competent employees - all of the went away because they disagreed with the chairman and he bullied them into quitting. It was his fault that we lost those people - but he never admitted it, because all those people quit on their own volition... I was the first person who stood up to him openly - so, he had to move openly, too. In firing me, he has shown to all people in the organisation that he really *is* the tyrant many accused him of being... Judging by the remaining workers' comments, he really lost a lot of respect in their eyes - and I had the sympathy of all. So, at least I scored a sort of moral victory...

> Good luck with the job hunt.

Thanks. I hope I find something soon... Unfortunately, it's not that easy to find a job here... at least if you're not working in IT or marketing, that is.
