Also, Powell is really only perceived to have knowledge over foreign policy, which makes the endorsement even less important.

exactly. i think this way of thinking is what has alienated Republicans from the rest of the country, and dare i say it, from the rest of the world. when i heard Powell was endorsing Obama, my first thought wasn't "Oh, it's because they're both black" it was "How long will it be before other Republicans/conservatives say he did it just because they're both black?" as we can see, it didn't take long at all. given Powell's comments about Obama, Christianity, Muslims and members of his own party, it's easy to conclude that this very way of thinking by the Republicans is what convinced him to support Obama.
> But that's okay. Because it's further proof of how low the right has fallen. Raising the alarm about the terror of SOCIALISM and saying Powell only agrees with Obama cause...he's black. Inspite of the fact he gave one of the most thoughtful speeches about why he thinks the Reps are wrong.
> You should watch the video of Powells speech instead of clinging to those half assed second hand articles of yours. He talks extensively about foreign policy even saying that with conditions as they are we should start pulling out of Iraq.
> I'll say this much though. I don't think it'll make much of a difference with the popular vote but I do think it'll make a difference with the electorial vote.
