I'm running seriously low on the will to live, I need to hear something cheerful.

Friends of mine have the sweetest little black dog. Alas, she is sometimes overenthusiastic about chasing critters (real or imagined) through the woods. She ran off one day and got lost.

My friends were beside themselves with worry. They called the police, animal control, all the local vets, put up signs, everything they could think off to find their pup. They searched the woods, they drove around local neighborhoods calling her.

Days passed, then a week, then two. They got a few calls, but never any that panned out.

The more time passed, the more unlikely it looked they'd ever see her again.

Then--over two weeks after she'd gone missing--the little dog made her way back home. She was bruised and starved, but recovered 100%.
