Disney is acquiring Marvel. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Is there any upside for Marvel, except the financial benefit to Marvel's shareholders? Just thought I'd post.

And I haven't seen anyone mention it yet (although maybe in a posting below), that this merger is an excellent way for Disney to get more exposure with their comics.

Their Disney comics reprints through Gemstone haven't made that big a splash in the U.S., at least not in competition with even the likes of Archie. Maybe this is a way for Marvel to get back into the kids market- publishing Mickey and Donald comics, and comics based on all the Disney cartoons. Just like DC published Cartoon Network books for kids.

Also, Disney bought the entire CrossGen lineup a couple of years ago, arguably for the rights to Abadazad. But this may open up a return of some of the CrossGen titles, if Marvel is willing to bring the characters into their universe, or even an imprint. By all accounts, and mind you, I read very few of them, CrossGen had a pretty loyal following.

Could end up very good for Marvel.
