What did the minority posters think about Avatar? I personally thought the movie was the same type of cliche we always get with movies like Dances With Wolves or The Last Samurai. A white man lives amongst another culture becomes accepted by them and becomes their greatest champion.

I'm white and I always find the last part of the formula to be bizarre. If I had written the movie, I would have had the human become best friends with the brother of the girl, and I would have had the brother become the champion, with the human his staunch ally. The human would do some out of the box thinking that would be very helpful to the champion. To me it's plain stupid that the human, who could barely accomplish the simplest things at first, somehow outpaces all of the natives at the one skill that is most important of all. It just wouldn't happen. It's unrealistic.

Was that her brother? I thought it was her betrothed until the white man came to shatter his happy little life \:\)

But yes in my mind I sort of thought the same thing. Let whitey help the champion and make the dude look good. Don't come in and steal his thunder. He's their champion for a reason. Just help the man out and let him have the glory he deserves. Don't come to the man's house eat his food, bang his wife and then tell your buddies what a great guy he is.
