You'd be putting a tax on CHEAP food (unhealthy = cheap). Eating one cheeseburger and fries is cheaper than having to purchase the ham for your sandwiches.

What? Dude, just stop. Are you really going to argue that eating out is cheaper than staying at home? (http://www.meridianmagazine.com/debtfree/090304cost.html)

A 5% reduction in fast food isn't a big deal. We already have enough service workers. They are low paying jobs, with most of the workers being low skilled, and mostly self dependent (no families). I'm guessing they also have relatively few job terms, and don't make careers out of working at fast food restaurants. This group of people are easily employeable in other areas since they have low expectations in terms of pay and job demands. Plus according to your logic these people would just find jobs in grocery stores.

There AREN'T any jobs in grocery markets anymore! And many times it IS cheaper to eat at McDonald's if one doesn't have enough money to purchase ham.

I haven't eaten at McDonald's in about 3 years. Does the food taste the same? ;\)
