Quote:At the Balboa Theatre Saturday night, they had a MST3K on-stage tour show, with the current Netflix cast. I don't normally like the new season cast hugely, but this was actually hilarious! The movie they riffed was "Argoman the Fantastic Superman."
Quote:The movie was pretty bad, and like I said, the riffs were great! Anyone else catch this show, or another one?
Quote:No, sadly. I did not go to SDCC but I liked the new season. The voice of Servo is probably the one that throws me off the most of the new and that is not the same voice that is touring with them at the moment. Murphy had such a distinctive voice. The guy who is Crow is pretty close. Apparently he can do a spot on imitation of Trace but Joel asked him not to.
Quote:Yeah, Kevin Murphy had the distinctive voice of Servo, I agree. I actually like the tour voice of Servo more than the regular season 11 one, but not as much as Murphy's. My favorite voice of Crow is Bill Corbett. Would have preferred the new S11 Crow voice to be someone sounding like him.
Quote:That is fair, I never noticed the differences in Crow's as much. There was one but it was not like the shift between Weinstein and Murphy. Or Murphy to the current fellow. His name escapes me. He was the most jarring change to me in S11.
Baron Vaughn, and I agree.
Quote:Really, I think I enjoyed everybody for different reasons in the original. For me I just generally preferred Dr. Forester and TV's Franks for the mads. I liked Pearl just fine, but those were the ones that for me brought alot of fun.
I didn't get to see the show regularly until it came to SciFi, so Pearl/Bobo/Observer were my favorite mads. I loved their chemistry, and with Mike and the bots then.
Quote:I am hoping to see the tour when it comes closer to me but will have to wait. Like I said, I did like the new season and was part of the kickstarter to bring it back. The original run was pretty great.
Quote:I was part of Kickstarter too. My favorite run of the previous seasons was the Sci-Fi Channel era. Would have preferred Sci-Fi having kept renewing the show after S10.
Quote:Cool, nice to know there are a few of us around at any rate.
Quote:It would have been nice if they did. I have trouble picking favorites. Other than the earlier seasons being a bit rough around the edges I have liked most of them. It is more about some episodes being better than others.
Quote:I will say that in terms of consistently funny episodes I may hedge a bit towards Mike episodes but Joel had some good ones. And I always liked the invention exchange.
I agree, except for the invention exchange. Preferred the SciFi years where they just did funny opening skits, like in 907 - Hobgoblins where they keep unintentionally turning each other on because of that 80's song about "accidental turn-ons."
Quote:What is your favorite episode(s)?
Most of the ones from the SciFi years.
Quote:I usually am stuck with either Final Sacrifice, Manos or Pod People. But there are loads of good ones. And some underrated ones. Always loved the Godzilla ones but they are hard to find anymore with Toho putting their foot down.
