Scenario is you wake up one morning and no one is there, no wife, no parents living above the basement, no flatmate (whatever the situation).
There are no bodies lying in the street, no wreckage of cars etc, everyone is just gone.
TV is out etc. You have no idea what has happened, you have no idea if there is anyone around in the world, but after a comprehensive search there is no one in the neighbourhood.
Neighbourhood pets are gone, but wildlife is still about.
What would you do?
My first order of business would be to pack enough supplies (water, nonperishable food, books to keep my mind occupied), find the newest vehicle (preferably something for both road and off-road conditions), hit up the local Cabelas for a gun for defensive purposes, and set out to find other people. Assuming that necessities like gas stations, satellites (for GPS) are all still functioning, it shouldn't prove much of a problem for me to do a cursory search of the surrounding few cities. I wouldn't settle in any one city for more than a day, and I'd travel light, picking up supplies along the way.
Only after about a year of searching with no results would I settle somewhere to live the rest of my days, making sure to keep my gun handy for when my mind starts to slip.
