The weakest student is starting to concern me. She bottled out of a group presentation and I had to deliver her, quite frankly piss poor presentation in front of the group with 10 minutes notice, so could only make minor improvements (everyone kind of guess what happened).

Pretty sure she isn't going to hack it and whilst I want to help, I don't want her to take me down with her. Am I being reasonable?

Very reasonable. Definitely a parasite.

By "bottled out" did you mean "bottomed out" or did you actually mean what you typed, which I guess would imply she got drunk?

She got scared of speaking in front of a group.

She comes across as nice and I believe she has no malice in her, but she just can't seem to do anything independently/without an awful lot of support.

The teaching staff are aware (not about the request for the essays) and are in 'support' mode, but I think ready to act.
