My library has been using Guy Fawkes to promote our fall book sale "Remember, remember the book sale in November."
We had no trouble till today we had a guy in a Guy Fawkes costume.
Suddenly a handful of town resident are complaining that we are using an anarchist to promote the library.
I and others keep telling them that they celebrate Guy Fawkes Day in the UK.
UK members, back me up. Would you be offended?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Guy Fawkes Day is a celebration that the Gunpowder Plot failed, not a celebration of Fawkes himself. So I'm not sure if saying they celebrate Guy Fawkes Day in the UK is a good explanation.
