Soldiers have a choice?

I thought they just got orders and went where ever they were told to do whatever work was ordered?

PPP

"Conscientious objection." "Voluntary release." Call it what you will.

Anyway, I think there should always be an option, and repercussions of them. The merits of every request are investigated. Simple cowardice isn't an acceptable reason. If "repercussions" means losing Bk Ray's respect, then so be it. I don't really think there are enough objectors for it to be an issue.

I would hope anyone serving would at least seek non-combat roles. Desmond T Ross' story comes to mind.

BTW, whoever hasn't seen it: see Hacksaw Ridge. Great movie.
